Aberdeen, good post. I looked at it before but the links only took me to search results and not the articles. This time I was able to get the articles on zone entries and read them.

It is interesting data; especially the fact that carrying the puck into the zone instead of dumping it in creates twice as many scoring chances. Fourth lines tend to play with the goal of not getting scored on and they play a dump it in and dump it out game. Coaches tend to have everyone play this style when they have the lead and the other team ends up having the puck most of the time.

The question for me is 'Should teams have a philosophy of either dumping it in or carrying over the line and attacking or should it be a read like 'if you are outnumbered and can't regroup or have someone entering the zone with speed then dump, Even situations or you have better numbers carry it in for an attack.
